Turkey reports strong bookings for 2022

The news comes as Turkey is named as one of ABTA’s top 10 most popular destinations for 2022.

Over 330,000 British visitors travelled to Turkey from January-November 2021 – mostly after the country was taken off the UK’s red list on September 23, 2021.

The re-growth of tourism between the UK and Turkey in 2022 is supported by increasing air links, with services from 17 UK airports to destinations including Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, Istanbul, Izmir and Gaziantep.

“2022 is set to be a year of strong recovery for Turkey in the UK market,” said Turkish Tourism Board in the UK. “The feedback we are receiving from our UK tour operator partners highlights strong levels of forward bookings for summer 2022, supported by an increased number of flights between the UK and Turkey this year.”

In 2020, Turkey rolled out its Safe Tourism Certification Program that ensured regular inspections of hotels and tourist facilities throughout the country. In 2021, the Turkish Government expanded the scope of the program and made it compulsory for accommodation facilities with 30 or more rooms. 11,750 tourism facilities have now been certified.

Turkey has high levels of vaccination amongst its population with 83.45 per cent having received two doses, with a particular focus on the tourist industry through the country’s tourism staff vaccination program which began in 2021.
