Jon Hays reveals staff will receive £100 for every year they have worked there, writes Jill Sayles
Hays Travel to spend £1 million on staff bonuses and celebrations after reaching the one billion mark in turnover
The company’s managing director, Jon Hays has revealed that its staff will receive £100 for every year they have worked there following the announcement that sales recently passed the one billion mark for the 12 months to the end of April 2018.
Customers can also benefit over the next nine days by registering on the company’s website to receive £1000 and one winner will be selected at random each day. There will also be a garden party for suppliers on June 30.
Hays made the announcement yesterday on Facebook Live from the company’s first shop in Seaham in County Durham. The company is the UK’s largest independent travel agent with a network of 166 shops and more than 1,000 employees.
He said: “I want to say thank you to the really important people who helped this happen. We would be nothing without the staff and I’m really so proud of them all.
“All the celebrations are costing about £1m and the bulk will go to the staff. And I didn’t want to do this on seniority but on length of service. It’s important not to differentiate between the senior team and the rest of the staff.”
