Jet2holidays pays out £70m in commission

Tour operator reveals new agent initiative at conference

Jet2holidays paid out £70 million in travel agent commission in the last year alone, the company has revealed. The total commission was paid out on 824,208 holidays.

Jet2holidays also sent out 2.5 million brochures to travel agents around the country.

Steve Heapy, the CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “Our strategy has not changed. We put all of our time and effort into supporting independent travel agents.”

Speaking at the Jet2holidays 2018 VIP Conference, Heapy added that revenues for Dart Group, Jet2’s parent company, were up 38 per cent with profits up 13 per cent.

The company also revealed the launch of “Specialist Jet2holidays Travel Agents” – a new scheme which offers independent travel agents the chance to access training programmes, branding and Jet2holidays Booking Pods.

The pods are a new way for agents to incorporate customisable spaces within their existing shops. Those who have the pods in their shops will be able to brand their stores as a Specialist Jet2holidays Travel Agent.
