Vacations to America sales increase 20%

Specialist operator hails agent performance

Vacations to America, the specialist USA tour operator, confirmed that its sales grew 20 per cent year-on-year as the company continued to court the trade.

The operator promotes tours across the US, including New England, the Deep South and California. As part of its 25th anniversary this year it launched a 100 page ‘Buddy Book’ – an agent reference guide to the US.

Speaking at an agent event in London, Richard Wimms, the managing director of Vacations to America, said: “We made a conscious decision in 2018 to increase our trade facing marketing activity as we knew that the trading environment would be challenging, and we wanted to capture our ‘unfair share’ of what business was out there.

“By the end of November, we will have completed over 800 visits to travel agents, produced and delivered high quality point of sale materials and improved considerably the way in which we have been communicating with front line sales advisors – all of which has resulted in a very positive trading performance year to date.”

Wimms added: “For 2019 we are planning further agent support activities and we look forward to working with even more agents and homeworkers.”
